Art- Meet Ms. Durham

The first thing to know about me is I really, really love art.  I adore studying and looking at art.  Sometimes I take trips just to see a specific artwork in person.  And although I am not really crafty, I enjoy creating art.  Photography is my current artistic focus, but I’ve done it all.  I also love education, both learning and teaching.  Teaching art was a natural combination of my passions.  I am lucky to have such a great job.

live in Highlands Ranch with my husband, our daughter, and our dog.  But it all began in Lawrence, Kansas where I was born and raised.  I went to school, and school, and more school there.  My Art History degrees are both from the University of Kansas.  You can’t grow up in Lawrence and not be a NCAA basketball fan.  It’s required.  So I am fanatical.  Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Art- Meet Mrs. Guignard

I am so excited to be starting my first year at Peiffer.  I have been teaching art for 13 years.  Much of the art that I create is inspired by nature and the outdoors.  I love to draw, paint, sculpt and sew.

My goal is to inspire students to think like artists.  The artistic process is applied to each project, it is a system that supports their individual ideas, personalities and experiences.  Students work in several studio centers including painting, drawing, collage, engineering, fiber arts, sculpting, mixed media and printmaking.  They are encouraged to experiment with new materials and methods of creating.  They choose their supplies, express themselves, collaborate, innovate and blossom as artists with the support of the classroom community.  By using this process, they are able to make meaningful connections between their lives and art. Their work is embedded with personally-relevant subject matter that is original, innovative and expressive.

When I’m not creating art, you can find me hiking with my husband Dave, and our dogs Louize and Frida.  In the winter we’ll be in the mountains snowboarding!

PE- Meet Mr. Fish

I've been teaching since 2010. I started teaching in the Jeffco School District in 2020. I knew that teaching was my calling when I started as a substitute after college. I've taught many grade levels, but P.E. is and has always been my favorite subject as a student and a teacher.

I am a huge advocate for Physical Education. It helps students foster a  healthy and active lifestyle. And most of all, it is FUN!

I married my beautiful and fun wife, Rita, in 2016. We have a son, Wyatt, and three dogs: Esmie, Leeloo, and Korben. When we're not hanging out at home we're out enjoying the great outdoors.

Music- Meet Ms. Gulley

My name is Cecelia Gulley and this is my first year at Peiffer and third year in Jeffco. I am originally from North Carolina but moved to Colorado in 2019 as a teaching artist through ArtistYear, which is a branch of AmeriCorps. I worked in a K-8 school in Glenwood Springs and fell in love with this state and with teaching general music. After that, I moved to Lakewood and the rest is history! I am so excited and grateful to be part of the Peiffer community!

My goal is to create lifelong music lovers through experience, play, and exploration. I love to play instruments, learn about music from around the world, and share music with others. I cannot wait to make music with the students at Peiffer!

When I’m not in the classroom, I love to play music for fun (jamming on the piano and ukulele), go to concerts, hike, run, cook, travel, and spend time with my family, boyfriend, and wonderful friends!
